Grinnell, Iowa, Malcom #6

This school is at the Poweshiek County Fairgrounds in their Heritage Park.  It is on East Street on the SE side of town.  It is Malcom #6, used from 1879 to 1965.  It was moved to Heritage Park on August 15, 1987.  It was originally located on the northwest corner of Old Hwy. 6 and Hwy. 63 in Poweshiek County.

Photographed 4/17/10

  1. I want to personally see this one! The number 2 is probably direct reference to the township, every township has their own numbers. Most states that I have seen have townships concieved mainly for political reasons.

  2. I'm sorry, but the #2 was just my reference to avoid confusing with the first Grinnell School we found, and which we got some new photos the same day as this one. Just go down the side to "Grinnell, IA" to see the first one. Most IA schools don't have numbers on them, but if you were to search the records you might find their number. Anyway this one, if you look again at what I wrote about it, is Malcom #6, and I found that on a web site that told me where to find it.
